Downtown Development
DDA Board Members
During the 2022/2023 fiscal year, the Clay Township DDA participated in the following activities:
- Continued maintenance/preservation of the Township Park buildings and grounds, ex: cleaned and resealed the ceiling inside the pavilion
- Project construction began at 6009 Pte Tremble for Pearl Beach Pier restrooms, and parking lot, road resurfacing and planning/engineering continues for a greenspace/picnic area. Repairs made at the Pearl Beach Pier
- Contributed to weight room renovations at Algonac High School campus
- Installed three pickleball courts adjacent to the basketball court at the township park
- Approved the purchase of a skid steer for park grounds maintenance
The DDA was a sponsor to the following events:
- Annual Scarecrow Festival at the Clay Township Park
- Clay Day - a celebration to mark the founding of Clay Township and its rich history and resources
- Sturgeon for Tomorrow-North Channel Sturgeon Classic and Sturgeon Festival
- Music in the Park-Clay Township series
- Michigan Chapter-Antique and Classic Boat Society Boat Show
- Algonac Baseball MHSAA State Finals
- St Clair County Quilt Trail
- Algonac Clay Historical Society Ship Camera
The DDA continues to offer applications for Façade Grants, for improvements made within the Downtown District
DDA Ongoing & Future Projects:
- Exercise Equipment Stations at the Clay Township Park, *with possible DNR Trust Fund Grant
- New volleyball court and cornhole stations at the Clay Township Park
- Planning & Engineering of an updated playground area, equipment and rubber play surface in collaboration with a DNR Spark Grant Award
- Future M-29 ditch and sidewalk project; ***concurrent with planned M-29 water line replacement (Water Fund revenue)
